RARE Antique 1900s Bicycle Carbide Cycle Bike Lamp Powell & Hanmer Panther B'Ham
USED: A rare, possibly restorable antique carbide bicycle lamp, that could be around 100 years old (early 1900s period). It is a carbide lamp. These were invented in 1892, and work by reacting calcium carbide with water to produce acetylene gas, which is then burned at a controlled rate to produce a bright, steady flame. This lamp is a used item and has a darkened lamp interior from where the gas flame was burned. Some metal aging to the overall surface. It is missing the front clear glass piece. The hinges are still functional and not seized up or rusted closed. The bottom reservoir can be loosened & tightened by screwing the base. The front lamp piece can be slipped off the top reservoir.
