The Lepo table was born from the meeting between the organic shape of wood marked by time and the rigid elegance of metal. Its name recalls the identity of the Aleppo pine: the tree symbol of the Mediterranean coasts, known for its resilience, ability to bend in the wind, wrinkled bark and a dense wood, very rich in natural resin and with hot and sinuous veins. The core of the work is a solid block of ancient Aleppo pine, left to dry naturally for about five years. This long period of stagnation allowed the wood to stabilise completely, allowing time to sculpt the matter with natural cracks, knots and cracks. Brought to light through a patient process of restoration and enhancement, the trunk is not bent to industrial forms, but preserved in its imposing sculptural and material presence. THE PROCESSING AND THE CRAFTSMANSHIP The wooden block has been subjected to conservative anti-tar treatments and multiple gradual sanding sessions, aimed at restoring a fluid and delicate surface to the touch, without affecting the original and organic shape that the trunk already possessed. The cracks that time has created and the natural knots have been stabilised and sealed with dark epoxy resin injections, creating subtle chromatic veins that highlight the light colour of the trunk. The feet are made of 3 mm iron sheets, shaped and welded by hand to form angled and facetted geometric volumes. The metal structure is treated with an anti-rust bottom and a multi-layer matte black finish. The connection between the structure and the wood mass takes place through deep milling carried out inside the trunk, in which the iron supports are drowned and structurally fixed with epoxy resin, ensuring total stability without visible fasteners. The final finish is applied by hand with natural oils for wood, capable of nourishing the fibre in depth, leaving an elegant matte yield and water-repellent protection.
