In 2008, the company’s CEO, Seungmok Yi, a music lover and audiophile, decided to mix business with pleasure and produce high-end electronics under the brand name Calyx. When Calyx came up with its first digital-to-analog converter, they named it simply for its product type and resolution: DAC 24/192 ($1950 USD). TheCalyx 24/192is a high-resolution digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that supports up to 24-bit/192kHz audio, features an ESS Sabre ES9018 DAC chip, and offers both USB and coaxial digital inputs. Its key specifications include a THD+N of 0.0005%, an SNR of 125 dB, and balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs. It has a solid aluminum chassis, can be powered via USB or an external adapter, and is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.
