The R580+ GPU was a large and ambitious chip for its time, featuring a 352 mm² die and 384 million transistors. Its non-unified architecture includes 48 pixel shaders and 8 vertex shaders, along with 16 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. The lack of unified shaders and the absence of DirectX 10 or newer support mean it cannot run modern games, but this is not a drawback for those aiming to build an authentic period-correct system.
