RALEIGH CHOPPER MK2 VINTAGE 1970s – PURPLE

Own an icon of 1970s British cycling! This vintage Raleigh Chopper MK2 combines unmistakable retro styling with the character and patina collectors love. With its high-rise handlebars, long banana saddle, raised sissy bar and distinctive stick-shift gear lever, it is a standout piece for any vintage bicycle collection.

FEATURES

* Classic purple frame with orange accents
* Original Raleigh decals and “The Raleigh Nottingham England” headbadge
* Black banana seat with white strap, with no visible tears
* High-backed sissy bar and Raleigh bell with cloverleaf logo
* 3-speed Sturmey-Archer gearing with stick-shift lever
* Tyres showing decent tread
* Design number 934257

CONDITION

Good vintage condition for its age, with attractive original patina. The purple paint has some fading, scratches and age-related marks, especially along the top tube and around the rear dropouts.

There is visible surface rust and oxidation on some bolts, chain and chrome components, including handlebars and pedals.

The seat appears intact, and the gear system is reported to operate. No major structural damage has been reported, but this is a decades-old bicycle, not a fully restored or mint example. Cleaning, lubrication and a professional safety check are recommended before riding.

WHY IT’S SPECIAL

First introduced in 1969, the Raleigh Chopper became a British pop-culture icon. The MK2 is particularly loved for its distinctive 1970s styling and the nostalgic appeal of its motorcycle-inspired design.

A fantastic find for vintage bicycle collectors, retro cycling enthusiasts, display or sympathetic restoration.

An authentic piece of cycling history with timeless collectible appeal!

E. Lynn Harris's blend of rich, romantic storytelling and controversial contemporary issues like race and bisexuality have found an enthusiastic and diverse audience across America. Readers celebrate the arrival in paperback of his second novel, Just As I Am, which picks up where Invisible Life left off, introducing Harris's appealing and authentic characters to a new set of joys, conflicts, and choices. Raymond, a young black lawyer from the South, struggles to come to terms with his sexuality and with the grim reality of AIDS. Nicole, an aspiring singer/actress, experiences frustration in both her career and in her attempts to find a genuine love relationship. Both characters share an eclectic group of friends who challenge them, and the reader, to look at themselves and the world around them through different eyes. By portraying Nicole's and Raymond's joys, as well as their pain, Harris never ceases to remind us that life, like love, is about self-acceptance. In this vivid portrait of contemporary black life, with all its pressures and the complications of bisexuality, AIDS, and racism, Harris confirms a faith in the power of love -- love of all kinds -- to thrill and to heal, which will warm the hearts of readers everywhere.
