Per Qiang Cong un oggetto si compie solo nell’uso, nell’intimità della vita quotidiana. La sua pratica è un rito: dall’argilla grezza al vaso finito, ogni fase è condotta personalmente dall’artista, in un gesto che unisce mano e pensiero.

La Serie Silver Glaze nasce da terracotta rossa modellata al tornio, cotta una prima volta a 1250°C con cenere e smalto nero. Segue l’applicazione manuale dello smalto d’argento puro, tre o cinque strati stesi a pennello, e una seconda cottura a 800°C. Nel tempo l’argento si ossida, generando riflessi iridescenti in continua evoluzione — testimonianza tangibile del trascorrere del tempo.


Ceramic vessels coupple, red earthenware and pure silver glaze

For Qiang Cong, an object is fulfilled only through use — through its quiet presence in daily life. His practice is a ritual: from raw clay to finished vessel, every step is personally overseen by the artist, a gesture uniting hand and heart.

The Silver Glaze series begins with red earthenware shaped on the wheel, undergoing an initial firing at 1250°C with ash and black glaze. Pure silver glaze is then hand-brushed in three to five layers, followed by a second firing at 800°C. Over time, the silver oxidizes, revealing ever-evolving iridescent patterns — a tangible record of time’s passage.
